The Start

The true fight of human kind has always been about wealth and power, and who gets to wield it. In light of this conflict, and in light of our understanding human nature, a healthy balance must be struck between handing one person too much wealth and power, and taking away from another too much wealth and power. The laborer who picks the fruit is just as valuable as those who grow those fruits, those who distribute those fruits, and those who consume them. However, people are evolved to overcome and to attain, and so we will never be satisfied with complete equal distribution of wealth and resources as proposed by such systems as communism, because it also innately presumes for each individual what resources they want or need – which is itself another form of oppression. Capitalism run rampant also has a tendency to result in extreme distributions of wealth.

So the difficulty is in how we create a structure of society where no one person or entity can horde power and wealth, but we all have the opportunity to build the life we wish to have for ourselves. This also comes down to the values of our society, and our ability to recognize the contribution each person gives to the world we live in – and to pay for them. The long and the short of it is, no one adds value that is worth 300x that of another person – it just isn’t so. A great idea cannot be fleshed out without the labor and experience of others. The labor of those who do not spend their time prioritizing intellectual endeavors, such as invention and science, can benefit from the fruits of the intellectuals in the forms of technology and medicine. Ultimately, we need to understand that we are a combination of individuals who work together to create something bigger and better. That is the human condition.

What do we do then? That is the question, isn’t it. This blog is my own personal attempt at trying out ideas, fleshing them out, and ultimately keeping my conversation with myself and the world going. We need it now more than ever – just as we feel ready to give up and give in. This is how I keep going.
