Is it possible, dare I hope?

The “American Dream” was always a dream, and each day it seems that we are getting farther and farther away from it. However, for the briefest of posts today – I just want to say this (and expand on it hopefully in future posts):

The things we want and deserve in life have always had to be fought for. In this moment, when things seem too difficult to overcome, I want to invite those around me who want a better life, who believe in compassion and kindness and empathy, and the ability for humans to come together to make things better – this is community. People have always come out better working together, sharing in the fruits of what we each can provide. The rugged individualism is myth, the perfect collective social order also myth.

The revolution is one of community – of coming together and saying that all those in pain deserve relief, and that we will fight for it together. It is understanding that our own individual needs and wants may not come at a snap of any finger, but if we work together we can support each other as we discover, seek, and slowly acquire what we need to feel fulfilled. It was always love, care, empathy, and compassion that we need to feed our souls, even as food, shelter, rest, and warmth feed our bodies.

With this, I want to go forward.
